film of disorientation
January 6th, 2009 by h0mLife is a long circling link of disoriented and dislocated events. The film does a great job at showing us, through the use of its compositional space, the disoriented and dislocated life of the main character. The film is deep with meaning and reflection. When i first say my own private idaho, i fell in love with the characters. I felt sorry for them and was routing for them to find their way. I think that the movie is a great example of how messed up society is. I think that the cookie cutter image of how life should be is wrong. I think that we need to carve out our own idea of reality. Life doesn’t have to be conventional and safe. We should learn to come out of our shell and be a little more open about life.
The scary part about life is always going to be there. Not knowing the near future is something that we all struggle with. We should find comfort and beauty in the variety of life. We should take solace in knowing that life is full of surprises.
