why i love the lakers
November 13th, 2008 by h0mI am a socal guy. Born in Sunny South Korea, my people flew with me in tow to good ol’ SoCal in the summer of ‘79. All my formative years were spent watching the Dodgers, Lakers, and Raiders (the L.A. variety) win titles and generally own all of the sporting universe, much like New England is now (it pisses me off that Boston is so good at everything, fuck!). The lasting sports memory of my youth happened in 1988, when Gibby hit that bomb off of Eck. Then the following spring I remember Magic flopping around really pissed that he had just pulled his hammy. With Magic AND Byron out, that meant the Pistons would win the title that year, preventing the Showtime Lakers from three-peating. So sad. The trip down memory lane is just to illustrate how much sports and particularly Los Angeles sports mean so much to me. So the last few years have been particularly brutal as a LA fan. The Dodgers are mediocre and the Lakers (aside from Kobe) have been just as average. The resurgence of the Lakers this year has been made me as happy as a pig in shit (not sure if thats a good thing).
Occasionally, I will give my opinions on which side I think will cover the spread as I think I’m awfully good at picking winners.
All numbers are current at time of posting courtesy of www.scoresandodds.com
Lakers -7 (For the uninitiated, that means I think the Lakers will win by more than 7 points)
Lakers -220 for the series (That means I have to bet 220 to win 100. In contrast, the Spurs are +180, which means for every 100 I bet, I win 180).
I would do a detailed match up breakdown, but I have neither the time (lie) or inclination to so, though many mainstream media sites and bigger blogs have done so. Go check those out.
BTW, much love to my boy, make money online noob at bloggernoob dot com.
Thanks for stopping by.

Postscript: WOW! what a game… Down 20 in the 3rd, Lakers rally and win by 4. They didn’t cover, damn, but that was legendary. Kobe is the shit.
